The MUSC-Hollings Cancer Center Community Health Van will be returning to the LCSD Wednesday, September 27th and Thursday, September 28th.
The van will visit all LCSD middle and high schools. Elementary nurses, if you have students who need school-required vaccines, please contact those parents and let them know about this opportunity. Elementary parents will be responsible for getting their child to the van location. Middle/High School nurses will be able to accompany the student to the van as long as they receive a completed consent form (parents are welcome to accompany as well).
The Tdap vaccine is required for 7th graders. Tdap prevents whooping cough, tetanus and diphtheria. The Tdap vaccine will be available for all students in 6th grade.
This is also an opportunity for students to receive the HPV vaccine. The HPV vaccine prevents cancer later in life. The HPV vaccine will be available for all students in grades 6th -8th.
Parental consent is required for all vaccines. Middle/High School parents will receive consent documents via email but we also encourage you to make the consent forms available in your front office and/or the nurse’s office. Forms must be completed and returned to your child’s school nurse no later than Tuesday, September 19th.
