Dear Families, Staff, and Community Members,
The safety and well-being of our students and staff is the highest priority in Lancaster County School District. In light of recent national and local events, including multiple school threats in South Carolina, I want to reassure you that we are taking every possible measure to protect our school community.
Our district works closely with law enforcement to thoroughly investigate each report, ensuring that all concerns are addressed promptly. Any individuals found responsible for making threats, even if unsubstantiated, will face strict disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion, as well as potential criminal charges.
We encourage students and families to follow the "See Something, Say Something" protocol. A link to the See Something, Say Something form can be found at the bottom of the district and school websites. If you encounter concerning information—whether in person or on social media—report it directly to school officials or law enforcement. Please avoid sharing or reposting rumors online, as this only amplifies fear and confusion. Instead, trust that we are working diligently with our partners in law enforcement to investigate and respond to all threats appropriately.
I urge all families to have open conversations with their children about the seriousness of making threats or spreading rumors. Such actions can lead to severe consequences and disrupt the sense of security within our schools.
Rest assured, we are continuously monitoring the situation and enhancing our safety protocols. Together, we can maintain a secure environment where our students can focus on learning.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in ensuring the safety of our district.
Sincerely,
Dr. Raashad Fitzpatrick
Superintendent, Lancaster County School District
