Evolv Express Demo

Lancaster County School District hosted an Evolv Weapons Detection System demonstration today, October 29, 2024 at Lancaster High School during normal school hours. All Lancaster High School students entered through the bus loop entrance and passed through the weapons detection system. District and school leadership, LCSD Board of Trustees members, local law enforcement, and representatives from the company were present and manned the system and/or observed.  Students were asked to remove Chromebooks and three-ring binders, but all other items remained with the student as they walked through the system. Items were retrieved immediately after being scanned. All bus riders and students who arrived on time had been scanned and were in class at the start of school. A special thanks to our students and staff for their participation and commitment to keeping our schools safe.

Superintendent, Dr. Raashad Fitzpatrick stated, "A safe learning environment will help us create an atmosphere where students can be successful." Safety and Transportation Director, Lonnie Plyler said, "These units allow students through faster so no instructional time will be missed and it's less intrusive."

Evolv provides security solutions that are innovative, streamlined, and comprehensive. The Evolv Express system can screen 4,000 people per hour in a dual-lane system. The system provides a non-invasive solution to searches and limits the searches to potential threats.

Evolv's website states, "Our solutions include concealed weapons detection, brandished firearm detection, insights and analytics, and a personal safety tool."

Lancaster County School District's 2024 bond referendum includes weapons detection systems and camera systems that can identify and track possible threats. The bond includes adding these systems across the district. For more information on the bond visit: https://bit.ly/LCSDBondInfo.
