Attendance Awareness Month reminds us to recognize the work happening all year long. Thank you, Teresa Whitley at Andrew Jackson Middle School, for your ongoing dedication to attendance and the students behind the records.

LCSD was proud to be represented at AI Boot Camp in Columbia, SC, September this week, as education leaders from across the state explored how artificial intelligence can be thoughtfully and responsibly integrated into schools and the workplace.

It was a great opportunity to learn what’s happening with AI in education, share ideas and bring new perspectives back to LCSD!

The District is thrilled to announce that due to a recent change in legislation, all Indian Land and Van Wyck area school students will now receive free breakfast for SY 26-27. Also, any breakfast purchases made from August 3, 2026 until September 18, 2026 will be credited to that student's meal account.

All other area schools will continue to receive free breakfast through our Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), as they have before. Point of Sale Transactions were made free to students on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Our Attendance Awareness Month spotlight shines on Erin Palermo at Indian Land Intermediate School! Thank you for your dedication to students, your support for families, and your contributions to the school team.

Thank you to the Buford High School JROTC for presenting the colors and to the Harrisburg Elementary School student for leading the Pledge of Allegiance at September's board meeting.

We also recognized the 2025–26 Indian Land High School State Champion Softball Team and Xavier Brunet, first-place winner in the national SkillsUSA CNC competition.
