On Monday, October 14th, the fine arts department will have parent / teacher conferences from 4:00 - 6:00 in the VPAC. This is only for the fine arts department. All other conferences will be on October 22nd, from 4:30 - 6:30. Also on Monday, there will be an interest meeting in the cafeteria for the NYC field trip at 5:30. At 6:00 on Monday, there will be an Arts Steering Committee meeting virtually and in person. Focus parents already received and email about this event. Kona Ice will be back with us on Wednesday. Students may purchase Kona Ice during lunches on this day. Also, on Wednesday, our football team returns home to host New Heights Middle School at 5:30. Come out and show your support for these athletes.

Yearbooks are now available for purchase. Please visit our school website for the link to purchase or ask your student for the yearbook flier that was sent home.

Red Ribbon Week is coming up October 28th through November 1st.  Here are our fun theme days if your student would like to participate.

  • Monday, October 28:  Twin Day - "Friends don't let friends do drugs." - Dress like a twin with a friend.

  • Tuesday, October 29:  Mix and Match Day - "Drugs mix up your mind." - Wear mismatched clothing.

  • Wednesday, October 30:  Camo Day - "Drugs can't find me." - Wear camo.

  • Thursday, October 31:  AJ Spirit Day - "Keep your mind, body, and spirit healthy by saying no to drugs." - Wear AJ clothing or school colors.

  • Friday, November 1:  Hat Day - "Keep a lid on drugs." - Wear a hat.

    Here are a few important reminders.  All clothing must be school appropriate and fit the dress code.  Hats may only be worn if they match the theme.  No coverings may be worn over your face (no masks, sunglasses, etc).  Pajamas are not allowed per the school dress code.

RRW Statewide Contest

Students have a chance to win $100 in a Red Ribbon Week contest hosted by the Taylor Watford Foundation.  This contest is open to all drug-free students in South Carolina. Students are challenged to submit a response to this year's theme "Drugs Are Never Worth the Chance".  Students may submit short essays, videos, dances, original songs, art pieces, poetry, skits, or any other original creation. Submissions will be subject to an anonymous vote. Three winners will receive a $100 cash prize. There are also class prize raffles. One teacher will win $100, and 1 class will win a pizza party.  One student submission equals 1 raffle entry. To enter, students should email their creation to taylorwatfordfoundation@gmail.com. Students must include their name, school, and teacher's name in the email. The deadline is November 2nd, 2024.  More information about this is listed on our school website.

Boys and girls basketball tryouts will take place the week of November 4th. More information on specific dates and times will come later. Tryouts are open to all 7th and 8th graders, and you must have a physical and parent permission forms on file in order to tryout.

Remember, this is a short week for students. There will be no school on Thursday or Friday.
