Welcome to Indian Land High School, Warrior Nation! I am Rick Parker, the new principal, and would like to start the 2024-25 school year by thanking you. It is an honor and privilege to educate your child. I am excited about becoming a part of the Indian Land Family. One of the most important jobs for us this year is to drive a positive culture that energizes and encourages people to learn and grow, foster connected relationships, and model great teamwork.

Our vision is The Indian Land Way: We Are Warriors! "We encourage and empower all students with the opportunities to have a world-class education that creates a W.A.R.R.I.O.R.S. Mindset: Willingness to endure challenges, Armed with Resilience, Ready to Inspire, Overcome, Rise, and Succeed!" Being "all in" every day, displaying the WARRIORS Mindset, will be the key to our success! As first-year Principal of Indian Land High School, I am reminded of the quote, "If you build it, they will come!" from the movie Field of Dreams. As your new principal, my goal is to bring all that I have learned in my fifteen years as a principal in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and more to the Indian Land students, staff, parents and community, building on the rich traditions of excellence. With our enrollment increasing to nearly 2000 students, the staff and I are passionate about being in the life improvement business. We are committed to planting seeds in young people every day, where they know someone believes in them, cares about them, and loves them. Our ultimate goal is to provide all students with the “must haves”, foundational skills needed to reach the crown of being enrolled, enlisted, or employed once they leave the and begin their life adventure on Route 247! Our theme for the 2024-25 school year, is to Work Hard, Work Smart, Work Together to "Prepare The LAND!": Together Hearts Enrich Learning And Nurture Diversity.

I truly believe, with the right mindset, students cannot lose. They either practice what they have learned, or they learn what they need to practice. No matter what their ability is, effort is what ignites that ability and turns it into accomplishments. One area that I am focusing on this year is student attendance by having zero tolerance for students having excessive tardies. I ask for your support with this new initiative and have your student OTOT (On Time On Target) each day as we strive for academic excellence.
