February is dedicated to Black History Month, honoring the triumphs and struggles of African Americans throughout U.S. history. Our overarching theme is "It Starts With Me". We want students to realize that by making the right decisions today they can change their families' futures for generations to come.
LHS is sponsoring daily and weekly informational and celebratory activities including morning Black History spotlights and trivia questions, cook-offs, and door decorating. Our outstanding guest speakers will emphasize the importance of being the change and encourage students to reach back and help someone else. Our culminating event is a talent show/poetry contest.
The LHS library staff encourages students to stop by the library and check out a variety of Black History resources. They are also planning Black History trivia and music events.
