New Cell Phone Policy

There is a SC state budget proviso in the 2024-2025 budget requiring school districts to prohibit personal electronic communication devices by students during the school day in order to receive state funding.

A proviso in a state budget is a budget instruction that limits how state funds can be spent for a specific purpose.

The state legislature sometimes uses provisos to put a measure in place while legislators look for a long-term solution through new laws.

Check out our updated guidelines: No cell phone use allowed during school hours. All cell phones should be powered off and placed in the student’s bookbag before entering the building. This policy applies to all elementary and middle school campuses in the district.
